Superleague Formula: Superleague - Pékin sera hors championnat

F1:Mark Webber : I am the title leader, but I’m not the favourite

Speaking to the official website of the F1 driver for Red Bull denied it was the title favorite this year.
He said:

"
I don’t even think of it. This weekend is just another Grand Prix - just another car race. The other stuff will take care of itself. Maybe in the end I will have a few more points than anyone. If it was a 15-race championship I would be the champion now. But there are still races to go and you need to lead the championship after the last race - and not now."

In the interview Webber also spoke about the team game run by Ferrari for Alonso favor.
When asked if he thought unfair attitude of the Ferrari he replied:

"
Well, I don’t think so. I think it is the way it turned out for them as a team. Felipe had a good start, but the mid season was not so great for him, so he is behind quite a number of points. And I don’t know if we will see Fernando benefiting a lot from Felipe’s support again. It depends how it plays out on the track. I don’t think that Fernando needs a lot of help from Felipe."

IRL: Vernay wants to be in Formula Indy in 2011

J.K. Vernay didn’t know what 2010 held for him at the beginning of the year.

After a solid year in the F3 Euro Series and a strong performance in the Macau Grand Prix, the 22-year-old Frenchman had options to compete in Touring Cars in Germany or moving to Japan to race when his management group suggested a test with perennial Firestone Indy Lights contender Sam Schmidt Motorsports.

The rest is history.

Despite not knowing any of the tracks when the year began, Vernay led the championship from start to finish and clinched the Firestone Firehawk Cup as Firestone Indy Lights champion in the Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka 100 at Homestead-Miami Speedway despite finishing 15th in the race won by Brandon Wagner.

“You never know if it’s a big solution, but it was a really great thing to come (to America),” Vernay said. “Winning the championship and being Firestone Indy Lights champion is a great thing. We won five races and had nine podiums. That is a great first year in America, but it’s just one step. This is just like I graduated from college and now I have to get a good job.”

That job, of course, is a ride with an IZOD IndyCar Series team for 2011. Vernay hopes his on-track performance has impressed future employers and knows he has some important selling points when it comes to landing his next job.

“I’m a better driver than I was when I got here,” he said. “I’ve improved since the end of last year. I finished in F3 with five podiums and I arrived here and I led the championship all year. After Indy, (James) Hinchcliffe and (Charlie) Kimball cut the lead to only five points, but when I had to win, the team did it. That is credit to the team for giving me a car to do that. I never had problems with the car all year long.”

But Vernay knows he still has much to learn about racing in North America’s top open-wheel racing series – especially when it comes to oval racing. But after a season that featured success on both ovals and road/street, Vernay is confident his experience in Firestone Indy Lights has prepared him for the next level.

“What I want to do is IndyCar,” Vernay said. “That’s why we chose Indy Lights. I have the title and the normal way is for the champion to go to IndyCar. It’s the next step. Everybody knows it’s not easy to get there, but I’m really confident that we will have a good deal with a good team.

“I like racing in America. The environment is very different than in Europe and it’s been a pleasure to race here. I still have a lot to learn on ovals, but I was still competitive this year and feel like I can be in IndyCar. On road tracks, I know I can be competitive. I hope to stay in America for a long time.”

F1: Felipe Massa: "'I'm not the second Rubens Barrichello of Ferrari"

Last week, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has urged the Brazilian to improve his performances and to play a more active role in helping Fernando Alonso.
Massa admits that his chances at the title are void but ensures that its position in support of Alonso is only valid for the rest of this season.

"I'm sure I'm not the second Ferrari of Rubens Barrichello. If that happens, I stop driving," Massa told the German magazine Sport Bild, adding that "I will not compete just to get second."

As for your problems in the current season, the Brazilian has been said that the operation of the tire condition their performances: "Fernando is very good, no doubt. But he's not better than my other teammates. I'm just I'm not as competitive as usual. I have many problems with the tires, which do not suit my riding style and even the soft are too hard. I'm sure many other drivers have the same problem. I think the Michael [Schumacher] did not know of driving, "Massa is quoted in that publication.

For all four races remaining, Massa knows he must help the Spanish struggle scepter in 2010: "If I'm in front of other riders, but behind Fernando, so I can steal them points, that's good for him and that's what I'm trying to do. "

ALMS: Petit LeMans 02/10/2010

Petit Le Mans – Ferrari second and third in class

Maranello, 3 October – The twelfth year of the prestigious American Le Mans Series came to an end at the Road Atlanta circuit in the United States, with a race lasting just over nine hours. The GT2 class win went down to the very last corner, with the Corvette ZR1 of Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnussen and Emmanuel Collard emerging victorious, ahead of the Ferrari entered by Extreme Speed Motorsports, driven by Scott Sharp, Johannes van Overbeek and Dominik Farnabacher. In third place was one of the two Risi Competizione F430s, crewed by Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander. The duo staged a fantastic climb back up the order after being penalised for a collision in the early stages, then losing the lead in the classification when they ran out of fuel with only ten laps remaining. This meant their hopes of taking the championship evaporated, with the title going to Patrick Long who finished down in fifth at the wheel of the Flying Lizard Porsche 911.br />
The other F430 entered by the Houston Ferrari dealership completed 353 laps, or around 1431 kilometres on its way to seventh in class, in the hands of Jaime Melo, Giancarlo Fisichella and Mika Salo.

After the previous round at Silverstone and this Petit Le Mans race, the Ferrari men move on to tackle the third round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, a 1000 kilometre race at China’s Zhuhai circuit over the weekend of 7 November.

F1:Peter Warr passes away

Peter Warr passes away

Peter Warr (GBR) Lotus Team Manager 1984 Ayrton Senna (BRA), who qualified and finished third, talks with Lotus Team Manager Peter Warr. Monaco Grand Prix, Monte Carlo, 11 May 1986.

Formula 1 is sad to record the death, in France on October 4th, of Peter Warr, well known for his management of the Lotus, Wolf and Fittipaldi Formula One teams in the Seventies and Eighties.

A former Royal Guards officer, Warr tried his hand at motor racing. He went to work for the emergent Lotus company in Hornsey in 1958, when he had just turned 20, and raced in sportscars and Formula Junior. He was good enough to win the 1963 Japanese Grand Prix at Mount Fuji in a Lotus 23 sportscar, but his greatest contribution to the sport came when he was invited by Team Lotus founder Colin Chapman to take over management of the Formula One team in October 1969.

Warr’s officer training and natural gifts as a leader shone through as he helped to guide a youthful Emerson Fittipaldi to the world championship in 1972, only the Brazilian’s second full season in the big league.

At the end of 1976 Warr accepted an offer from wealthy Canadian oil baron Walter Wolf to run his new team, which he had taken over from Frank Williams. They won on their debut in Argentina, with Jody Scheckter driving the Wolf R1 designed by Harvey Postlethwaite. South African Scheckter was also victorious in Monaco and Canada, and only lost out in his world championship challenge towards the end of the season.

When Wolf was merged with Fittipaldi’s flagging eponymous team at the end of 1979, Warr continued as team manager. In the middle of 1981, however, Chapman prevailed upon him to return to Lotus. Warr became team principal after Chapman died in December 1982.

He enjoyed a difficult relationship with an emergent Nigel Mansell, who was popular with sponsor John Player, and signed the upcoming Brazilian Ayrton Senna to replace him for 1985 as Mansell switched to Williams. Senna won six races for the team, before leaving for McLaren at the end of 1987, whereupon Warr moved quickly to sign reigning world champion Nelson Piquet.

Warr remained with Lotus until 1989, when he left to become an FIA permanent steward, and later Secretary of the British Racing Drivers’ Club, before retiring to live in the Bordeaux region of southern France. In March 2010 he returned to the Formula One paddock in Bahrain, where he was enthralled to see Fittipaldi and Mario Andretti demonstrating their famed championship-winning John Player Special Lotuses before an appreciative crowd.

F1: Lotus to use Red Bull gearboxes next season

Lotus have confirmed on Tuesday that Red Bull Technology will supply the team with gearboxes and hydraulic systems from 2011.

“The announcement is obviously a massive step forward for us, both in engineering terms, and as an expression of our ambitions for next year and for future championships,” said Mike Gascoyne, Lotus’s chief technical officer. “The gearbox / hydraulics package obviously plays a critical role in the performance of the car, not just on track but in design and packaging terms.

"This deal gives our design and aero teams a very exciting platform to work with. The removal of the double diffusers in 2011 will allow the whole grid to tighten up the rear bodywork and mechanical structures around the gearbox, and this supply deal will allow us to capitalise on that with our 2011 car. Exciting times lie ahead!”

Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, added: “We are very pleased. The fact that Red Bull Technology has been chosen to be a supplier to another team despite its short history demonstrates how much we have achieved since our first season. We very much look forward to working with Lotus Racing from 2011 onwards.”

Last week it was confirmed that Lotus had agreed to terminate their contract with current engine supplier Cosworth. They are expected to use Renault power in 2011.

“Din (Kamarudin Meranun), Nasa (SM Nasarudin), the whole team and I are absolutely delighted,” said Lotus team principal Tony Fernandes. “It is a real statement of our intention to challenge for Formula One honours as soon as we can that we have reached this agreement and we are very excited about integrating the package into our 2011 car. I think people in and out of the sport are going to be following our progress even more closely now we have taken this incredibly important and ambitious step, and it makes next year even more exciting. The Lotus Racing dream grows bigger every day!”

Although they are yet to score any points, Lotus are currently the leading new team and are tenth in the constructors’ standings, ahead of Virgin and HRT.

The Official F1 Site

F1:Van der Garde is negotiating with two teams

After Sergio Perez , another driver from Addax, in the GP2 Series may be close to securing a place in Formula 1. According to his manager, Giedo van der Garde has two proposals for 2011.

"We have concrete offers from two teams. In fact, o
ne team is ready to sign with us and we just need to get the necessary budget," he said Jan Paul ten Hoopen, manager of the Dutch.

Ten Hoopen not said which teams are interested in Van der Garde, but said that HRT is the only discarded as an option. "There is no reason to overpay for a place that will only end the career of Giedo. We are trying to sign with the best team possible."

AutoGP: AutoGP's title motivates Grosjean trying to return

Romain Grosjean won last weekend in the title of
the inaugural season of AutoGP (Former F3000).

The Frenchman, who also ran tests for the new Pirelli tires that will be used in F-1 in 2011, hopes that these experiences will help them achieve a new opportunity in the top category of motorsport.

"I really do not know what to expect, it's a little early for that. I wish, obviously, to have another chance in F1, and not just sitting there, a real chance at a proper place," he said.

Grosjean replace Nelson Piquet at Renault, after
the resignation of Brazil, in the 2009 season and made seven starts, his best result being a 13th place in the GP of Brazil. To make his return, he does not rule out running again in GP2 before.

"It would be a good plan. In 2009 I left the league in half because of the opportunity I had at Renault. I was fighting for the title, I might give it another go for it," he said.

Matthias Mueller, director of Porsche, said during the Paris Motor Show, which considers taking the brand back to Formula 1.
In English "Autocar", Mueller revealed that the company's sports program is to maintain one of the brands, Audi or Porsche, the prototypes, while the other is trying to win the Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Porsche could enter Formula 1 as an engine supp
lier, as has happened in the past, and would make sense for the company to enter the sport in 2013, when they come into force the new engine regulations.

Briton Eddie Irvine, who was a teammate of Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport that the return to the slopes of the German is a "disaster" and who does not believe in explanations for the results of the German poor.

"On paper, the return was not in a bad idea, but already in 2006 Felipe Massa was often better than him. Three years after losing even more. The result is a disaster," said the former pilot.

"The excuses are his words to the wind," a new team, new people, etc '. In the first year of Ferrari, the car was bad, but he won three races, "added Irvine.

After three years of retirement, the seven times world champion returned to Formula 1, but with disappointing results. Schumacher has cited changes in the car category and slow as explanations for the income.

F1: Di Montezemolo wants Massa competitive

To help Fernando Alonso in the title race of the 2010 season, Ferrari asked that Felipe Massa proves competitive in the last four races of the championship.

"I want a strong Massa, who steal points from our rivals at the end of the year. He was unlucky in Singapore, but is still able to win races. Those who run for Ferrari not run by themselves, are at representing the colors of the Ferrari," said chairman Luca di Montezemolo told Gazzetta dello Sport.

About the decision to promote Alonso from the controversial German GP, Di Montezemolo added: "Our choice proved correct. He (Alonso) is very competitive and showed skill and determination to fight back and win under pressure."
